Deagon Deviation overpass bridge progressing rapidly

Traffic travelling southbound on the Gateway Motorway (between Barrett Street and the Depot Road bridge) has been moved onto a temporary alignment – making way for the final bridge girders of the Deagon Deviation overpass bridge to be installed over the motorway. The bridge girders weigh approximately 90-tones, and will be installed over the motorway lanes using 500-tonne and 350 tonne cranes.

In addition to this, widening works along this section of the motorway will be undertaken for the remainder of 2017, and motorists will be diverted back to the existing southbound alignment in early 2018.

Stay tuned for time-lapse footage of the Deagon Deviation bridge girder installation.
